Genaah: My name is Genaah and I’m a senior designer with Madison Taylor and I am also manager of the interior design department. One of the biggest challenges with this project was transitioning from an old century home in downtown Orillia to a water treatment and testing facility. Kind of on the outskirts of Orillia. It’s really tough for clients to transition to that kind of a building if we don’t do it right.

Lee: My name is Lee Johnston I’m one of the owners here at Cavana Spa & Salon along with my beautiful wife Joanne. We’ve shared this venture together since day one. We are very grateful every single day to have a very busy business and we’ve truly optimized the most potential we could do here at this location as far as space and services that we provide. It’s now time to pivot and move to a next location to allow our business to continue to thrive and grow.

Joanne: People thought we were crazy when they saw us purchasing this building. It’s a brown building, square box. “How are you gonna make it a spa” and we said to them, we have a vision and having Madison Taylor I think we’re really gonna transform that building. It’s gonna be a beautiful salon and spa.

Madison: It’s a very industrial building and I think a lot of people kind of question their decision but they had the vision and we had the vision on being able to take the character from their current location and really implementing it into this space.

Genaah: We’ve actually painted all the brick a light gray and then we’ve added a lot of layers. We have a stone skirt, we have limestone stone going above that, a lot of stucco details, archways, really grant light fixtures, black windows kind of like a modern Parisian look.

Madison: Unique textured materials and all these kind of European details. I think we’ve done a really good job of bringing that character into the new building.

Genaah: It’s really exciting to create a space that’s refreshing for them and really welcoming for their clients. We’re taking a building that wouldn’t typically be made into a salon and completely flipping it on its head and I think people are going to be really wowed.
